How many side missions are there, or how long do they take? How do they compare/work with the main story?
The final number of side missions is not finalized as yet. We are still working hard to get as many into the game as is possible. We have lots of great ideas -- enough for multiple games. As for how they work with the main story, they are fully integrated into the story. Side missions occur when natural to do so. We’ve tried really hard to make them fit into the fiction and be as realistic and believable as possible. Look out for more information on this subject at GamesCom.
Why did you choose to have three families instead of 2 or 4?
Or indeed 10 families! I don't really think there is a specific reason. When Daniel Vavra wrote the story it just featured these three families. That's the way it worked best.
Is snow dynamic? Does it melt? How does it fall off cars
Snow is and isn’t dynamic. Weather and seasons don’t change in real time so the player won’t see melting snow as they hang around on the streets of Empire Bay, In some missions the snow might be more or less melted but that is because we chose to have it like that. As for falling off cars, you’ve probably seen already that yes snow does fall of objects and cars specifically as you mention.
What happens when cars hit things/other cars?
They crash, then they get damage. Cars are fully destructible with lots of individual parts that can get smashed and destroyed, each window, each tire, the hood, the trunk... It’s really cool how much you can smash the hell out of cars. As well as the cars, the world features lots of dynamic objects that can be crashed into -- post boxes, hydrants etc. etc.
Will there be auto aiming?
Yes there will be aiming support implemented in the game. This will be optional for players and also it will probably be tied to the level of difficulty you choose to play.
Will there be kick back/recoil for weapons?
Absolutely. Areas like this are still being worked on and improved everyday but I think you can see from the gameplay videos the Tommy gun is really hard to control because of the recoil. Shotguns the same -- Like I say though it is still being improved.
Will there be a driver’s eye view for the car’s camera?
This is not decided finally yet. We have a bunch of cameras implemented in the game currently (and in-car is one) and we are still playing with and tweaking each before deciding what has value to the player and what doesn’t.
Can you die in car crashes?
Car crashes causes damage to your health so yes, you can die from a car crash.
What happens if you take a different route in the Buzzsaw Trailer?
You can approach many situations in the game from various sides – using money or illegal tools, silent knife from the back or loud machine gun. At certain points however the story and development of a situation may just plunge you in one non-avoidable intense fight or ride. The Buzzsaw mission is one of those where you are given specific orders by people above you in the mafia family and you do have to follow them closely – ending always in that big shootout.
